ABOUT

MEET SENATOR TIMMY FRENCH

Senator Timmy French is a third-generation farmer and a lifelong resident of the Shenandoah Valley. Timmy understands the importance of our rural community and the unique lifestyle it offers. He seeks to protect individual freedoms and conservative principles and is committed to preserving and championing this way of life for future generations.

Timmy’s loyalty to the community was instilled by a grounded and humble upbringing. Working on his Mom and Dad’s farm alongside his brothers and sisters at a young age, he learned the meaning of hard work and the importance of family.

Timmy is a small businessman. He co-owns beef, poultry, dairy and row crop operations. Like most modern farmers, Timmy knows firsthand the complexity of maintaining a viable and profitable business. He is willing to face the mounting challenges of the agricultural community head on because he recognizes these struggles are placing America’s future in jeopardy.

Timmy was elected to the Senate of Virginia in 2023. He currently is the only full-time farmer in the Senate. Timmy is honored to serve as a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, the General Laws and Technology and the Rehabilitation and Social Services committees. Timmy was recently appointed by the Senate Rules Committee to serve on the Agricultural and Rural Development Committee of The Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South) and the Large Animal Veterinarian Shortage Study.

Agriculture

As the only full-time farmer in the Senate of Virginia, Senator Timmy French is the “go to” person when issues facing the agriculture community are discussed in the General Assembly. He is willing to address the tough issues so the next generation sees a career in the agriculture sector as one where they can succeed and have a good life.Agriculture is Virginia’s largest private industry, providing more than 381,800 jobs throughout the Commonwealth and generating over $82 BILLION annually to Virginia’s economy.  Timmy is working to dispel the idea that food magically appears in grocery stores and restaurants. He sees the effects that unpredictable market demands have on a person’s income and employment stability. He uses every opportunity to speak about the tremendous value of farming and how working through complex mandated regulations can be overwhelming to comply with and costly to consumers. Timmy believes it’s important to understand the direct impact agriculture has on the food supply not only for Virginians, but the world population. Timmy is a strong advocate for the entire agricultural industry  and will continue his work to ensure government policies work jointly to allow the industry to prosper while protecting Virginia’s many natural resources.

Quality Education

Building a quality school system that prepares our children for the future is one of the most important responsibilities of government.  Timmy is committed to our teachers by supporting competitive salaries and ensuring safety in the classroom.  He recognizes the need to restore respect and discipline in schools and believes parents are an integral part of the education system.

Public Safety

The police force, fire and rescue personnel and emergency medical staff are the backbone of every community in this Commonwealth. In District 1 many of the first responders and essential personnel are often a family member, friend, neighbor, and at times have volunteered for the role. Timmy believes because they face unforeseen dangers and increased responsibilities that they deserve the honor and compensation for the work they do to protect all of us.

Protecting our Values

It is common sense to treat our fellow human beings with kindness and promote a culture that respects and values life. Timmy will support pro-life laws. He will defend individuals’ religious liberty to choose how to practice their faith without government coercion or opposition.

Second Amendment

Timmy is a gun owner and hunter. Timmy strongly believes and defends the right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. He maintains a deep respect for hunting traditions and a commitment to public safety. Timmy stands firm in protecting the liberty of responsible gun owners while ensuring that those who misuse firearms face the full extent of the law.

Jobs and the Economy

Small and family-owned businesses foster economic development and are essential to a community, especially our rural communities. A successful private sector produces higher employment and a healthy economy for families to enjoy. Timmy supports common sense legislation to make it easier to open and grow a business.

Taxes

Many families are struggling financially in today’s economy. We all know that higher taxes place burdens on hard working people who are trying to make a living to support a family. Timmy will continue his fight against higher taxes while looking for ways to reduce wasteful spending.

I was grateful for today’s visit from Tumay Harding, the Republican candidate for the vacant Senate seat in the 32nd District, located in eastern Loudoun County.

Tumay took time out of her holiday weekend to come to Woodstock and visit French Brothers Dairy to learn more about Virginia agriculture. During her visit, we discussed the issues affecting her district, and she shared her vision for making a difference in the Senate. This is the type of leader we need—someone who is already putting in the hard work to understand and address the challenges faced by Virginians.

If Tumay wins the upcoming special election on January 7, she will be sworn in at the start of the 2025 session. Her election would pave the way for Republicans to achieve so much more for our Commonwealth.

Please share this with your friends in Loudoun County to let them know about this important election and the strong leadership Tumay Harding will bring to the Senate.

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to share the following announcement that demonstrates the true meaning of giving.

Last week Governor Youngkin presented 10 honorees throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia with the 2024 Governor’s Volunteerism & Community Service Awards. Three of those honored live right here in the District, in Woodstock & Front Royal.

Please join me in congratulating Ashley Coulson, Michelle Smelter and Nichole Johns for their outstanding work and the impact they are making in the lives of many. We are fortunate to live in a community where neighbors, family and friends truly care about the well-being of others.

Wishing you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
